Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Sunday said that Eid al-Fitr is an important religious ritual that is celebrated by Muslims worldwide marking the end of Ramazan but the KP government had nothing to do with moon sighting as it is the sole responsibility of the federal government. "We have no role whatsoever in the moon sighting," Khattak told media persons soon after exchanging Eid greetings with people from different walk of life who called on him at his residence at Manki Sharif, District Nowshera.

KP Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhail, MNA Dr, Imran Khattak and Tehsil Nazim Ashfaq were also present. Khattak categorically stated that his government never influenced the process of moon sighting and the Ulema who announced the decision of Shawwal moon sighting on the ground of collecting evidences from several district of the province.

He said it would have been better, had the central Ruit-e-Hilal Committee come to Peshawar a day earlier and witnessed the whole process by itself. He said that writ of the government was visible there, law and order situation had improved considerably and KP was going towards complete normalcy, which was certainly the set target of the government to restore complete peace in the province.

Khattak said that writ of the government helped achieve the set targets. He said that his government brought much-needed reforms in all sectors for welfare of people and heading toward achieving all the targets one-by-one. "Our mission is to give relief to the people through reforms in every sector and every government department so that they could serve the people," he said, adding that supremacy of law, providing justice to the people under the slogan of "Change" is actually their manifesto.

KP Chief Minister said that under the policy of change, they had made several reforms in all those sectors and departments where people are directly involved. "Our prime target is to provide relief to the people by bringing solution to their long lasting problems which were ignored by different governments in the past, he said, adding that they have focused on education and healthcare which was necessary for nation building.

He said they had got rid of corruption in different public sector departments and the money earlier gone to individual's pockets through corruption was now diverted to public welfare.

Khattak said reforms in police had been made and now they were working for the welfare of the people. He said the public representatives should serve the public and give relief to the people by utilizing their energies. He said as compared to the governments in the past, the present government has setup a precedent of serving the people. "The public institutions will be given autonomy under the definite aim to put the working of these institutions on professional lines so that nobody could influence them from the outside," he said, adding that there was no room for wrongs.

He claimed that none in the history of Pakistan ever transferred power and authority to public sector institutions but PTI did it. He was optimistic that on the basis of his government performance, PTI would stage a comeback with popular support of people.
