Prices of the essential kitchen items witnessed a reduction during last week as compared to preceding week, a survey carried out by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.

The survey observed that the prices of fruits which during Ramazan remained on high side have started falling as the holy month is near to an end. In the wholesale as well as in retail market the prices of all the seasonal fruits have witnessed a decline as white apple price reduced from Rs 130 per kg to Rs 120 per kg, golden apple from Rs 150 per kg to Rs 140 per kg, Turkish apple from Rs 230 per kg to Rs 200 per kg, Chinese apple is being sold at Rs 200 per kg, Iranian apple at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 250 per kg and ambri apple at Rs 80 per kg.

Watermelon price reduced from Rs 750 per 40-kg to Rs 550 per 40-kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 20 per kg against 20 per kg, melon from 1,800 per 40-kg to Rs 1,500 per 40-kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, good quality local banana from Rs 130 per dozen to Rs 120 per dozen, while normal quality is being sold in the range of Rs 80-100 per dozen, while top quality Indian banana is being sold at Rs200 per dozen and normal at Rs 170 per dozen.

Plum price also witnessed a decline as a best quality 2kg pack of plums is available at Rs 300 against Rs 350 per pack, while normal plum is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, best quality peach price reduced from Rs 160 per kg to Rs 140 per kg, while normal quality is available at Rs100 per kg.

Best quality Sindhari mango is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 130 per kg normal at Rs 80 per kg, Anwar Ratol mango is being sold at Rs 150 per kg, Chonsa is available at Rs 120 per kg and best quality apricot is being available at Rs 150 per kg.

Vegetable prices also witnessed further decline as potatoes price reduced in wholesales market from Rs 3,000 per quintal to Rs 2,700 per quintal which in retail is being sold at Rs170 per 5-kg and onions from Rs 2,500 per quintal to Rs 2,200 per quintal which in retail is being sold at Rs130 per 5-kg, tomatoes price reduced from Rs160 per 5-kg to Rs 140 per 5-kg. Ginger price is being sold at Rs500 per 5-kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs130 per kg and garlic is being sold in the range of Rs 100-150 per kg.

Lemon price remained stable at Rs 600 per 5-kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs140 per kg. Brinjal is being sold at Rs 200 per 5-kg in wholesales market which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg. Cucumber price went up from 150 per 5-kg to Rs 200 per5-kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 50 against Rs 30 per kg.

Okra price went down from Rs 190 per 5-kg to Rs 160 per 5-kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45 per kg, peas price further went down from Rs 450 per 5-kg to Rs 400 per 5-kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, tinda went up from Rs 140 to Rs 150 per 5-kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg; maro kadu price is stable at Rs 100 which in retail is being sold at Rs 25 per kg, and kadu at Rs 150 which is being sold at Rs 40 per kg. Kareela price went up from Rs 130 to Rs 200 per 5-kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 40 per kg and Arvi price is stable at Rs 400 per 5-kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 100 per kg.

Cauliflower price went down from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5 kg which in retail is being sold at Rs90 per kg against Rs100 per kg and cabbage price is stable at Rs 100 per 5 kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 25 per kg. Capsicum is being sold at Rs 200 per 5-kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg; beans went up from Rs250 per 5 kg to Rs 300 per kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs70 per kg against Rs60 per kg.

During the week under review chicken price went up from Rs 4,500 per 40-kg to Rs 5,500 per 40-kg, in retail market live chicken is available in the range of Rs 165 per kg against Rs 130 per kg and chicken meat at Rs 260 per kg against Rs 220 per kg.

Sugar price also went down from Rs 2,800 per 50-kg bag to Rs 2,680 per 50-kg, which in retail market is being sold in the range of Rs 57-63 per kg. There is no change in wheat flour price as a bag of 20-kg normal quality wheat flour is available at Rs 750, while good quality at Rs 780 per 20kg bag.

Good quality fresh milk is available at Rs 100 per litre while normal at Rs 85 per litre and fresh yogurt is being sold at Rs 100-120 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses are stable as Massh is being sold at Rs 160 per kg, Channa at Rs 170 per kg, Lobia at Rs 100-120 per kg, Moong at Rs 120 per kg and Masoor at Rs 110 per kg, while the rice prices were found stable as best quality Basmati rice is available at Rs 120 per kg and normal quality rice at Rs 70 per kg.
