This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "Pakistan played 'perfect game' in CT" and editorial 'Stunning victory' carried by the newspaper yesterday. Australian cricketing legend Adam Gilchrist his credited Pakistan's adaptability and perseverance in the face of domestic challenges as key to their rout of favourites India in the Champions Trophy.

No doubt, his is the most objective and professional take on the outcome of The Oval final played last Sunday. The newspaper has argued, among other things, that "in a nutshell, the entire Pakistani nation owes to a young, hard-working, sturdy Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed and his team. This Karachi lad has successfully carried out a job that could be compared with the victory of the team led by Imran Khan in the 1992 World Cup final: Pakistan were hopeless at the outset of both the tournaments. No doubt, their victory at The Oval has given a new dimension to the ambience of Ramazan; it will certainly add to the Eid festivities."

There is therefore a need to protect and preserve the victory at The Oval. Not only has this precious but stunning victory helped Pakistan improve their ranking in the 50-over format of cricket, it has also brightened country's prospects insofar as the visits of foreign teams are concerned. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan also deserves commendations for this historic victory.
