This is apropos a Business Recorder editorial 'Prisoner escape' carried by the newspaper yesterday. The newspaper is plausibly argued that "No less worrisome are the circumstances under which the two highly dangerous men got away; all the more so considering that the jail was heavily guarded after the October 2014 discovery by the Rangers of a 45-meter long under construction tunnel just a few meters away from a detention centre where 100 dangerous militants were being held. Surprisingly, no one from among the concerned officials could say when the incident took place; what is known is that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) was informed about it "after a considerable delay." In fact, details of the escape are enveloped in mystery."

The incident presents a sardonic comment on our concerned authorities' approach to the challenge of terrorism in the country. This seems to be a case of either complicity or incompetence, or both.
