The pension of EOBI pensioners was last increased on April 01, 2015 to Rs 5,250 per month after three years (the last was Rs 3,600 in 2012).

Since then (ie from 2015) no increase has been given whereas the government employees, and of other bodies like Pakistan Railways, etc., are being given Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 increment monthly as was announced on television by Mariyam Aurangzeb. This is gross injustice to the poor and elderly pensioners, who devoted their whole life for the country. The government should consider this for the retired employees and announce an increase of up to Rs 10,000 monthly from Rs 5,250 in the budget 2017-2018.

The government has axed the profit of Bahbood Certificate. When a person (retiree) bought Bahbood Certificate in 2010 after getting retirement dues, the profit on an investment of Rs 100,000 was Rs 1,280 a month, and if anyone invests now, he will get Rs 760 per month, ie, Rs 520 less.

The prices of medicines have increased many times. One must not lose sight of the fact that need for medicines also increases manifold in one's old age.
