The Karachi Port handled 91,236 tonnes of cargo comprising 64,972 tonnes of import cargo and 26,264 tonnes of export cargo including 2,706 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 64,972 tonnes comprised of 15,339 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,192 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,025 tonnes of coal; 6,167 tonnes of fertilizer and 36,441 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 26,264 tonnes comprised of 9,964 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 6,700 tonnes of talcum powder and 9,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,706 containers comprising of 1,034 containers import and 1,672 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 412 of 20's and 228 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 83 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 322 of 20's and 82 of 40's loaded containers while 196 of 20's and 495 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Cosco Durban, Fortunate, APL Japan, Bodo Schulte, Vania, United Fortitude, Zongji-2 and Alam Manis carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There was four vessel viz. Northern Dependant, Vania, Zongji-2 and Mid Falcon carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely Kota Kamil and Northern Dependant carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday.

There were seven vessels viz. Sima Giselle, YM Keelung, Prosper, N-Mars, Mid Fortune, Intrepid Republic and Bravo-V carrying containers, mogas, chemical and DAP respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while five vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, Wan Hai-501, Mohar, Beagle-II and CS Flourish carrying containers, cement, project cargo and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 150,625 tonnes comprising 138,677 tonnes of import cargo and 11,948 tonnes of export cargo including 2,485 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 138,677 tonnes includes 44,526 tonnes of furnace oil; 16,600 tonnes of palm oil; 7,730 tonnes of chemical; 14,900 tonnes of soyabean; 13,900 tonnes of coal and 41,021 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 11,948 tonnes includes 6,194 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,754 tonnes of cement. As many as 2,485 containers comprising of 2,159 containers import and 326 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MV Lincolin Park carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely MV Doric Victory and MT Silver Manoora carrying bulk cargo and palm oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Albany, CV New Ark, CV Maersk Columbus, MV African Falcon, MV Rui Ning-2, MV Nord Destroy, MV Good Hope Max, MV Lincolin Park, MT Lion-M and MT Silver Manoora currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen ships namely MV Nord Destroy, MV Frontier Leader, MV Maine Ehime, MV Lumphini Park, MV Santa Virginia, MV New Era, MV Global Phoenix, MT Kahyas, MT Sovereign, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Spruce-2, MT BW Zamesi, MT Quetta, MT Harminy-1 and MT Impros carrying soyabean, canola seeds, steel coil, chemical, coal, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two vessels viz. MV Global Phoenix and MT Kahyas carrying coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Iron Ore & Coal Berth and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were eleven ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV CMA CGM Amazon, MV Malne Ehime, MV Lian Hua Song, MT Maria-III, MT Tiamat Gas, MT New Naxox, MT Brizo, MT Ginga Leopard, MT Chemroad Sakura and MT Umm Al-Dalkh carrying containers, steel coil, general cargo, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely CV Maipo carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
