The Karachi Port handled 96,856 tonnes of cargo comprising 93,176 tonnes of import cargo and 3,680 tonnes of export cargo including 3,545 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 93,176 tonnes comprised of 34,842 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,802 tonnes of general cargo; 35,182 tonnes of bulk cargo: 26,969 tonnes of coal; 2,993 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 5,220 tonnes of fertilizer and 6,350 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 3,680 tonnes comprised of 3,680 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,545 containers comprising of 2,789 containers import and 756 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 757 of 20's and 922 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 94 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 114 of 20's and 53 of 40's loaded containers while 132 of 20's and 202 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely KMTC Mumbai, MT Karachi, Doric Victory, Nordic Tianjin, Dream Jasmine and Heilan Brother carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There was ten vessel viz. Kota Layar, Kota Nilam, Sti Memphis, Bengal Orchid, Rowan-3, Alam Manis, Dream Jasmine, African Falcon, Roelof and BBC Ocean carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, vehicle, steel and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely African Falcon carrying steel sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Lark and Aragonit carrying coal and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Friday.

There were three vessels Sima Genesis, Calix and BW Amazon carrying containers, soyabean meal and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday while seven vessels viz. Al Farahidi, APL Japan, Bodo Schulte, DL Violet, Frontier Ace, Tansy and Global Phoenix carrying containers, chemical, vehicle and coal respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
