The Karachi Port handled 166,954 tonnes of cargo comprising 123,890 tonnes of import cargo and 43,064 tonnes of export cargo including 8,273 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 123,890 tonnes comprised of 65,188 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,120 tonnes of general cargo; 41,582 tonnes of bulk cargo: 35,211 tonnes of coal; 3,403 tonnes of seeds; 2,968 tonnes of rock phosphate and 16,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 43,064 tonnes comprised of 26,964 tonnes of containerised cargo and 16,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,273 containers comprising of 4,304 containers import and 3,969 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,674 of 20's and 1,313 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 982 of 20's and 168 of 40's loaded containers while 893 of 20's and 879 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Kota Karim, Northern Dependant, ALS Apollo, Bunga Laurel and Golden Denise carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Ever Diamond, Wide India, Wan Hai-506 and Golden Denise carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

There were three ships namely Ever Diamond, CSC Brave and St Johannis carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Wide India and Da Fu carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday. There was one vessel Orient Nadeshiko carrying chemical due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama, Al-Abdali, MT Lahore and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 141,122 tonnes comprising 101,298 tonnes of import cargo and 39,824 tonnes of export cargo including 3,734 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 101,298 tonnes includes 1,928 tonnes of furnace oil; 35,500 tonnes of LNG; 365 tonnes of LPG; 2,225 tonnes of chemical; 16,890 tonnes of soyabean seeds/oil; 10,550 tonnes of coal; 2,718 tonnes of project cargo and 31,122 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 39,824 tonnes includes 39,824 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,734 containers comprising of 1,638 containers import and 2,096 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely CV MSC Algeciras and MV Gas Ethereal carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on Thursday afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Algeciras, MV Da De, MV Orient Rise, MV Iris-II, MV Gas Ethereal, MT Umm Bab and MT Desert Rose currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds/oil, chemical, LPG, LNG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve ships namely MV Dione, MV African Finfoot, MV Chang Shan Hai, MV Asia Emerald-II, MV Iris Oldendorff, MT Epic Samos, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Maistros, MT Formosa, MT Silver Philipa, MT Bneinder and MT Quetta carrying soyabean, coal, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessels viz. MT Epic Samos and MT Quetta carrying LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were six ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV NYK Furano, CV CMA CGM Indus, MV Fan Zhou-9, MV Freedom Line and MT Lion-M carrying containers, project cargo, coal and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV Tempanos and MV Clipper Tcnacious carrying containers and slag due to arrive on Friday.
