In a letter to the DGTO, the REAP Chairman explaining the method of election of chief patron said that the managing committee meeting on May 14, 2015, decided to appoint the chief patron unanimously and the association's annual general meeting (AGM) duly approved this decision on September 30, 2015. He said the minutes of this 17th AGM were duly submitted to the DGTO office along with notice of the 18th AGM to be held on September 9, 2016.
However, he said there was some misunderstanding about the allegation of allocation of quota, as he wrote that there was no quota distribution at REAP and neither had any such incidence (of allocation of quota) ever took place. He said the formation of REAP delegation was made in the most transparent manner with balloting carried out each time as and when number of applicants exceeded the size of the delegation and the balloting was carried out in front of the applicants who desired/wished to be present there.
In the end, Mahmood Moulvi assured the DGTO office to submit any further clarification and abide by the law and directions of the DGTO on this issue. When contacted, Mahmood Moulvi while talking to Business Recorder said that in response to the explanation sought by the DGTO office, he had written in detail the method of election of the chief patron which held before his tenure. He admitted that neither the Memorandum of Articles of the Association nor the law provides office of the chief patron. However, he said, he had put forth all the facts before the DGTO office and would await any direction or comments from him. He once again said he would follow the law and directions issued by the DGTO office.
