Pakistan Stock Exchange Thursday witnessed a bearish trend due to heavy selling pressure and the benchmark KSE-100 index declined by 345.81 points to close at 49,481.70 points. Daily trading volumes increased to 398.976 million shares as compared to 323.016 million shares traded Wednesday. The market capitalisation decreased by Rs 40 billion to Rs 9.859 trillion. Out of total 403 active scrips, 208 closed in negative, 174 in positive while the value of 21 stocks remained unchanged.

Engro Polymer was the volume leader with 36.646 million shares. It gained Rs 0.81 to close at Rs 29.00 followed by Aisha Steel Mill that increased by Rs 0.88 to close at Rs 26.08 with 27.945 million shares. Azgard Nine inched up by Rs 0.18 to close at Rs 14.29 with 26.973 million shares. Sanofi-Aventis and Pak Tobacco were the top gainers with Rs 112.32 and Rs 74.57, respectively to close at Rs 2,358.79 and Rs 1,591.00. Nestle Pakistan and Wyeth Pak were the top losers with Rs 385.99 and Rs 114.54, respectively to close at Rs 9,014.01 and Rs 2,355.66.
