Peshawar and Hazara divisions are in a fight for the general trophy of the KP Under-23 Inter-Regional Male and Female Games being played at different venues, here on Wednesday. Hazara stunned Peshawar by winning the overall trophy while the male and female squash events entered into semi-finals staged.

In the Taekwondo female Hazara grabbed four gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze medals by securing 90 points, followed by Peshawar with two gold medals, one silver and five bronze medals by securing 69 points. Swat remained at third with one gold medal, one silver and five bronze medals by securing 19 points.

Director General Sports KP Junaid Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Director Female Games Rashida Ghanavi, Secretary Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Murtaza Hassan, Chairman Martial Arts Association Ilyas Afridi and large number of spectators were also present.

DG KP Sports Junaid Khan gave away trophies and cash prizes of Rs 50,000 to the winner and Rs 300,000 to the runners-up. The Women Table Tennis Peshawar beat Mardan by 3-0 and grabbed gold medal. Peshawar defeated Swat by 3-0 while Mardan outclassed Hazara by 3-0 in the first and second semi-finals.

Chairman, Right of Information KP Azmat Hanif Orakzai was the chief guest who gave away trophies and cash prizes. In the cycling individual time trials event Saleem Khan of Peshawar won gold medal, followed by Tanzil Khan and Ali Ahmad of Swat grabbed third position. In the team trials Peshawar got first position, followed by Swat and Mardan.

Secretary Pakistan Cycling Federation Syed Azhar Shah was the chief guest. President KP Cycling Association Nisar Ahmad and large number of spectators were also present on the Northern Bypass, the venue of the cycling race.

In the Kabaddi event Peshawar beat Swat by 37-12 points and took berth into the final. In the Women badminton Mardan beat Hazara by 3-0. In the Male hockey, Mardan beat Hazara by 3-1, Dera Ismail Khan beat Swat by 5-4 on penalty shoot-out before playing a goal-less draw. Peshawar beat Kohat by 3-0. Chairman KP Hockey Association Saeed Khan was the chief guest on this occasion.

In the Football male Bannu beat Dera Ismail Khan by 1-0, Kohat beat Mardan by 7-6 on penalty shoot-out before playing 2-2 draw in the 90-minute time, Hazara beat Peshawar by 1-0. In the Basketball Kohat beat Dera Ismail Khan by 62-22, Hazara beat Mardan by 73-61, in the volleyball Kohat beat Swat by 3-0, Bannu beat Dera Ismail Khan by 3-0, Mardan recorded victory against Hazara at 3-2, in the badminton event Hazara beat Swat by 3-0, Dera Ismail Khan beat Mardan by 3-0, Peshawar beat Kohat by 2-0.

In the squash male Wasay and Wali Jan of Swat beat Wisal and Shahbaz by 3-0, Saqib of Bannu beat Zakir of Kohat by 3-0, Faisal and Abdul Manaf beat Saim Tariq of Abbottabad beat Dera Ismail Khan's Kashif and moved to the semi-finals. In the semi-final event Peshawar grabbed three gold medals, three silver medals by securing 43 points, Mardan got one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, Bannu remained third with one bronze medal. In the Tennis Peshawar and Hazara reached into the final. Peshawar beat Kohat by 2-0 while Hazara beat Bannu by 2-0.
