The Senate Secretariat has sent over Rs 500,000 bill to Senator Kulsoom Perveen of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for using the official vehicle for the last around three years. Well-placed sources privy to the development told Business Recorder that Rs 500,000 bill was sent to lady senator by Secretary Senate Amjad Pervez. The secretary took the plea that Senator Kulsoom is holding no chairmanship of any standing committee, so she is not entitled to any official vehicle.

But the secretary Senate who has been associated with Senate of Pakistan for the last several years, never bothered for a single time to request the lady to return the official vehicle. "The secretary remained kept mum for well about two-and-a-half-year and never bothered to ask the lady senator to return the vehicle which she has been using since the time when she was chairperson of a standing committee being a senator of PML-Q," they added.

They said that the approach adopted by the secretary is not insulting towards the female senator as he should have asked the senator to return the vehicle the day she was no more chairperson of any standing committee. "This is not only insulting for a senator but also for the Senate Secretariat. The secretary has resorted to this kind of things in order to hide his own blunder, for which the senator must not be blamed, and the chairman should take action against the secretary as it is a breach of privilege of the members," said a senator on condition of anonymity. When contacted, the secretary Senate declined to comment for reasons best known to him. Senator Kulsoom also did not pick up the cell phone despite several attempts made by this correspondent.
