This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "Transmission, distribution system: PM shaken by power challenges" carried by the newspaper yesterday. The headline carries the word "power" which means "electricity". The situation, however, suggests that the PM in deep trouble. Not only is he shaken by 'power' or electricity challenges, he is also facing the prospect of disqualification or an end to his party's rule.

The news item that says that Ministry of Water and Power's poor performance has shaken the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif therefore appears to be less significant as compared to the profundity of PM's ordeal. Though the Supreme Court verdict has given him a reprieve, it has landed him in a situation in which he seems to be feeling that he is fast losing his grip on power. Indeed, the challenges to his rule or power are quite formidable.
