The Karachi Port handled 198,911 tonnes of cargo comprising 167,078 tonnes of import cargo and 31,833 tonnes of export cargo including 8,973 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 167,078 tonnes comprised of 71,825 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,265 tonnes of general cargo; 45,540 tonnes of bulk cargo: 37,702 tonnes of coal; 7,838 tonnes of rock phosphate and 46,448 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 31,833 tonnes comprised of 31,684 tonnes of containerised cargo and 149 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 8,973 containers comprising of 4,707 containers import and 4,266 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,957 of 20's and 1,374 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 963 of 20's and 386 of 40's loaded containers while 1,481 of 20's and 525 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely MSC Tasmania, Prosper, Cora, Oriental Freesia, Iris Oldendorff, Marianna and Heilan Star carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eleven vessels viz. Hyundai Shanghai, Northern Dependant, New Ark, ST Johannis, MTM Hambu, Asia Ruby-IV, Chrina, Courageous, Liberty Passion, Eit Paloma and LE Chang carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Hyundai Shanghai, New Ark, CMA CGM Eiffel, Liberty Passion and LE Chang carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Northern Dependant and Wan Hai-613 carrying containers are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were six vessels viz. Kota Karim, Wide India, Bunga Laurel, Lada, Al Mahboobah and Thor Monadic carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while two vessels viz. Ever Diamond and Chemrout Brilliant carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 90,904 tonnes comprising 51,308 tonnes of import cargo and 39,596 tonnes of export cargo including 3,728 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 51,308 tonnes includes 12,556 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 5,085 tonnes of soyabean; 2,431 tonnes of project cargo and 31,236 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 39,596 tonnes includes 39,596 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,728 containers comprising of 1,644 containers import and 2,084 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely CV MSC Rachele and CV MSC Victoria carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV UASC Bubyan carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Rachele, CV MSC Victoria, CV UASC Bubyan, MV Da De, MV Aris-II, MV Navig-3 Stellar, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Epic Samos currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss, CV MSC Algeciras, MV Silver Zoe, MV Dione, MV Chang Shan Hai, MV African Finfoot, MV Orient Rise, MV Iris Oldendorff, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Maistros, MT Formosa, MT Silver Philipa and MT Desert Rose carrying containers, soyabean, soyabean oil, coal, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV Maersk Kinloss, CV MSC Algeciras, MV Orient Rise, MV Silver Zoe, MT Tiamal Gas and MT Desert Rose carrying containers, coal, soyabean oil, LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were nine ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Uni Florida, CV Tempanos, CV Maersk Kinloss, CV MSC Algeciras, MV Fan Zhou-9, MV Gas Ethereal, MT Tiamal Gas and MT Lion-M carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Salina and MT Quetta carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Indus carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
