During official visit to attend high level dialogue on regional economic co-operation and integration for enhancing sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Younus Dagha, Federal Secretary Commerce met Miss Wiboonlasana Ruamraksa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand, on April 19, 2017.

The Federal Secretary Commerce shared that lot of effort is being made to increase bilateral trade between the two countries, but still it is not up to the mark despite the fact that both the countries have a lot to offer to one another in various fields. He further highlighted that, Thailand has an opportunity to relocate their industry to Pakistan especially in the wake of CPEC. Thailand's experience in food processing, Halal certification and hospitality can find numerous industrial and trade opportunities in Pakistan.

The Federal Secretary Commerce also informed his counterpart about the eagerness of Pakistani traders towards ongoing FTA negotiations. He hoped that the next round of talks scheduled to be held in Bangkok from 17th-19 May, 2017 would be a conclusive, as most of the issues have already been settled. The Permanent Secretary shared the same feeling and hoped for early finalisation of FTA. She pointed out that in order to increase contacts among the private sector both countries may plan single country exhibitions to which Dagha also agreed.-PR
