On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Drug Testing Laboratories (DTLs) of the province are being upgraded on modern lines to ensure provision of quality medicines to the people and eradicate fake as well as substandard medicines. In this connection, DTL Lahore has been upgraded at a cost of Rs 158 million. In this laboratory, equipment and analysers of international standards have been installed and highly qualified and trained staff has been appointed.

Additional Secretary Drug Control, Primary & Secondary Health Department Dr Muhammad Sohail and Director DTL Dr Shafiq-ur-Rehman told media persons during their visit to Drug Testing Laboratory Lahore, on Tuesday that latest laboratory gadgets like HPLC, LCMS and GCMS have been installed and the number of qualified laboratory staff and analysts has also been increased to ensure timely testing of drug samples.

Dr Muhammad Sohail informed that the laboratory has been made totally paperless and a latest computerised system and information technology has been introduced. This system has been installed with the help of PITB. Dr Sohail further informed that training of the laboratory staff has been imparted through PFSA and LGC London.
