The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) will discuss today (Tuesday) approval of more than 25 development projects at an estimated cost of Rs 86.02 billion.

According to sources, the Chairman, Planning & Development Board of Punjab, the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chairman, Planning & Development Board of Sindh, the Additional Chief Secretary FATA, the Additional Secretary of Planning, and Development Balochistan, Additional Chief Secretary Planning of AJK and Additional Chief Secretary of Planning Gilgit-Balistan would participate in the CDWP meeting. Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal would chair the meeting at P Block Secretariat.

According to the CDWP meeting agenda available with Business Recorder, the projects of Sindh government are as follows: Flood Emergency Reconstruction Project Phase-II at an estimated cost of Rs 11.5 billion and Rehabilitation of Sukkur Barrage Improvement Project Phase-II for Concept Clearance Committee would also be discussed in the meeting.

The CDWP would discuss as many as three energy projects at cost of Rs 20.3 billion including (i) Construction of new 132KW Grid Station and Transmission Lines (SEPCO) at cost of Rs 9.27 billion, (ii) Distribution Rehabilitation (Energy Loss Reduction) (SEPCO) at a cost of 9.2 billion and (iii) Distribution Expansion (DOP) (SEPCO) at cost of Rs 1.83 billion.

The meeting would also discuss five water development projects at an estimated cost of Rs 3.9 billion including Correcting Approach of River Chenab to Control Erosive action along its Right Bank Opposite RD 0+00 M. Garh Flood Bund at RD 13+500 Khangarh Flood Bund in District Muzaffargh at cost of Rs 290.8 million, Capacity Building of the Office of Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters at cost of Rs 108.6 million, Construction of six Small Dams in District Mansehra (K.P) (Construction of Lchar Nullah Dam Project) at cost of Rs 1.92 billion and Construction of Small Dams (KP) (Construction of Lchar Nullah Dam Project, District Mansehra) at cost of 901.4 million.

Two projects relating to health sector including Up-gradation of Non-Radiation/Modern Endoscope Diagnostic Services in Pakistan Institute of Medical Science Islamabad of Rs 663.13 million and Prime Minister's National Health Programme at cost of Rs 8.2 billion would be discussed in the meeting.

For Higher Education Commission, as many as four projects at an estimated cost of Rs 8.5 billion including Establishment of University of Education Lahore at cost of Rs 2.98 billion, Provision of Quality Education Opportunities to the Students of the Students of Balochistan and FATA in Cadet Colleges, Poly Technical Vocational and other Institute at cost of Rs 2.7 billion, Agriculture College at Dera Murad Jamal Nasirabad at cost of Rs 1.51 billion and Establishment of Sub-Camps of Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering and Management Science at Zhob at cost of Rs 1.3 billion would be discussed.

The CDWP meeting will discuss one project of Industry and Commerce for 100 Industrial Stitching Unit (Phase-I) at cost of Rs 307.21 million. The meeting would discuss five projects of Physical Planning and Housing at an estimated cost of 2.13 billion including Construction of IB Office along with CPEC at cost of Rs 482.88 million, Construction/Extension of Residential Accommodation of IB Academy at H-11/1 Islamabad (Phase-I) at cost of Rs 98.156 million, Construction of Regional Tax Office G-9/1, Islamabad at cost of Rs 1.02 billion, Extension of Federal Lodge Karachi at cost of Rs 264.04 million and Consultancy Services for Margalla International Convention Center, Islamabad at cost of Rs 268.275 million.

According to documents, the CDWP would discuss as many as six projects of Transport & Communication sector: Widening, Improvement & Rehabilitation of Remaining Portion from National Highway N-25 at cost of Rs 1.7 billion, Re-opening of Rail Car from Kohat-Rawalpindi-Kohat on Experimental Basis at Cost of Rs 281 million, Widening and Improvement of Ghalanai-Mahmad Ghat Road Mohamand Agency, FATA at cost of Rs 4.4 billion, Construction of Black Top Road Tallan Bazar to Killi Sardar Abdul Rahim and Killi Abdul Rahim to Wasab Talab Chagai at cost of Rs 169.76 million, construction of Rathoa-Haryam Bridg and its approaches across Reservoir Channel on Mirpur-Islamabad at cost of Rs 6.64 billion.
