There is a need to educate the public about the importance of tax to increase revenue that will help address the problem of a common man. It was echoed at a seminar held to mark Tax Day jointly arranged by Punjab Revenue Authority and University of Agriculture Faisalabad at Old Senate Hall.

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that as a responsible citizen we have to create the awareness about importance of tax. He added that tax evasion is the biggest challenge and could not be solved without mobilization the public. He said that the tax build the nation. He urged the youth to motivate the people to pay the tax.

He said that biggest challenge is the attitude of the people about the tax. He urged the participants to consider its obligation because Islam also instructs to fulfil the obligations of human rights. President All Pakistan Tax Bar Association Mohsin Nadeem stressed upon the need to strengthen the tax net in order to bring tax stealers into the book. He said that there were four millions people in country who got National Tax Number (NTN) in out of them only 1 million people are tax payer. Out of the one million people, 0.45 million people are employees.

Treasurer Umer Saeed said that there is a need to provide tax friendly environment. He also stressed upon the need to educating the public about the tax procedure and tax blessings. He stressed upon the need to work on one window tax collection system in the province and equitable tax system for all the provinces.

Former president Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Rizwan Ashraf said taxes are prices we pay for civilisation. He said that they could not be progressed with indirect tax, for this purpose we will have to increase our direct tax. He termed tax and GDP enhancement a real game changer for country. Additional commissioner Punjab (PRA) Hussan Raza Saeed briefed participants with current progress of Punjab revenue authority. He said Punjab revenue authority was formed after 18th amendment in constituent 2012 and providing service on 62 services.
