I feel contended that today we have traversed a long way in achieving the objective of an inclusive society. Not only are we celebrating the ABILITIES EXPO 2017 as a showcase event to mark our societal development. By this event we resolve with firm and renewed dedication that we still have to go a long way.

Socio cultural aspect relevant to issues of disabilities has always been a growing concern of civilized segment such as academia, intellectuals, teachers and those who are striving for transparency, openness and level playing fields in the society. In the 21st century, the development of the country is not judged by the relevant growth of GDP but also how society deals with the segments which are more vulnerable and considered externalities in economic terms. Similarly collective attitude of a society portrays a picture of social civilization which is most inherently manifested in norms and attitude of the society. These norms governing attitude and behaviors have an important impact governing our societal outlook. Today there is a need and resolve both at individual and collective levels to achieve the purpose and objectives of civilization by enhancing the rights and dignity of a person with disability and to create awareness among the masses that we share collective responsibilities.

Realizing the facts that we still have to go ahead, Government of Sindh celebrating this day with a renewed commitment that extra efforts and practical steps will be taken to achieve the objectives of an inclusive society that includes state of the art infrastructure facilities, rehabilitation and skill development for this marginalized segment of the society. I invite in this struggle of ours, all the people, NGOs to provide guidance that how and where and in what manner steps will be taken for the collective benefits of ours. Through extra efforts which are symbolic expression of our commitment and dedication for the achievement of purpose, yet I am fully conscious that this development, expressed in the celebration of ABILITIES EXPO 2017 still requires consistent efforts. Today I congratulate the Department of Special Education whose efforts and hard-work symbolizes the well managed ABILITIES EXPO 2017 and I am also thankful to Karachi Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) for their efforts and dedication by collaborating with Special Education Department, in organizing this event. At the end I reiterate the resolve of Government of Sindh that we still have to move ahead in achieving our objectives by ensuring a society where any kind of disability is not considered as an obstacle but a different way of achieving or enhancing other capabilities.
