Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFCL) was founded in 1978 as a result of a joint venture between Fauji Foundation and Haldor Topsoe A/S Denmark. The main aim of investing in the fertilizer sector in 1970's was to locally produce and meet the country's requirement for fertilizer and achieve food security. In the joint venture; Fauji Foundation holds the majority shares and leads the Board. The major portion of capital for establishing FFC's first plant also came from Fauji Foundation. Now the company owns three plants with a combined capacity of production of 2.4 Million MTPY.

Progressing further; the company has diversified into several other businesses which include banking (Askari Bank Limited), and food business (Fauji Fresh n Freeze).

Financially; FFC being one of the highest contributors to the National Exchequer, has contributed around Rs 398 billion to the National Exchequer since inception of the Company, with contribution of around Rs 45 billion during 2016 alone.

In recognition of the company's achievements/services; FFC has been awarded by South Asian Federation for Accountability (SAFA) for transparent business practices and corporate governance. Moreover, the company has also enjoyed the privilege of being the first among the top 25 companies on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for six consecutive years.

Moreover, keeping in view the energy crisis in the country; FFC became the first company in Pakistan that took the initiative by investing in the wind energy sector (FFCEL) and established a 50 MW Wind Power Plant at Jhampir, Sindh. The company has played a leading role in developing Pakistan's first grid connected wind power plant that achieved commercial operations.

Being pioneer; FFCEL Wind Power Project has become Pakistan's signature project towards achievement of self-sufficiency in energy production through renewable resources. The project is registered with Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) which will benefit it towards obtaining Verified Emission Reduction carbon credits. The Project so far has provided over 500 GWh of clean and sustainable energy to the national grid which is helping the nation in overcoming the electricity shortage.

FFCEL has played a pivotal role in CSR activities in Jhampir region for uplifting of area. The company has invested over PKR 16.5 Million in the underprivileged/neglected areas of the region till now with more projects planned for 2017.

FFCEL will be the first Wind Power Plant to implement Integrated Management System (IMS) to streamline its performance in line with International Standards and to achieve operational & business excellence.

FFCEL is also planning to expand its role in Operation & Maintenance (O&M) sector of local wind power plants using its trained manpower along with development of a full scale professional training facility. These steps will contribute in further development of the wind industry sector in a sustainable manner and help the investors to optimise operational cost by utilising local services resource.

FFCEL is also in the process of evaluating/planning to install an integrated Solar Power Plant at its wind farm that will enhance the utilization factor of the National Grid and help meet the country's energy demand. FFCEL looks forward to providing top of the line, world class alternate energy and systems leading to make Pakistan proud in days to come.
