All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) with a view to avoiding congestion at the port has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to allow shifting of containers lying at terminals for over 90 days to off-dock terminals. The APCAA gave this suggestion when its delegation, led by its senior vice chairman Arshad Jamal and chairman FPCCI committee on customs, had a meeting with the FBR chairman Dr Muhammad Irshad and Member (Customs) in Islamabad, the other day.

Mr Jamal toldBusiness Recorder that the FBR chairman was also informed that terminals were ready to take all responsibility for smooth transfer of these containers from terminals to the off-dock terminals. The APCAA team during its meeting with the FBR chief also highlighted the issue of unnecessary marking of containers for examination and proposed to send single item GDs for scanning, instead of physical verification at the specified scanning area where skilled examiners and trained scanner operators were deputed for the purpose and onward submission of examination report through systems, he said.
