The China Coal Technology and Engineering Group (CCTEG) will set up a 660MW power plant in Thar. Chairman CCTEG, Wang Jinhua called on Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi on Wednesday. Matters related to beginning of mining and setting up coal-based power plant in Thar Coal Block-1 came under discussion. The Chinese company will mine 7. 8 million tons of coal from Thar Coal and establish a 660 megawatt power plant.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said Sindh government's joint initiative with ENGRO for mining and establishing a coal based power plant in Thar Coal Block-2 has restored the confidence of foreign investors. He said Sindh government has completed phase-1 of development in Thar under which road and water supply projects have been completed to facilitate the companies working in Thar.
