Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) on Friday claimed to have resolved longstanding issue of non-filing of nil return of sales tax in FBR, which was pending since 2011 in the wake of the 18th amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan.

According to the president KCAA, Khurram Ijaz, a delegation of KCAA held a successful meeting with the high-ups of FBR's at their headquarters in Islamabad last month and discussed the issue of non-filing of sales tax nil return, pending since 2011.

Following that meeting, the board has finally issued a letter No.: C.No.(28)GST/ Sec(A&R)/2012-Pt-III on January 30, 2017 for the condoning of delay period of non-filing of sales tax returns by the service providers (custom agents) as per the procedure in the context of board's previous letter No.: C.No.(28)GST/CRO/2012-PT-III.

Khurram further said that following the issuance of said clarification, the board has amicably resolved the said longstanding issue of customs agents.

Meanwhile, Wasiq Hussain Khan, General Secretary KCAA, requested the customs agents who had not filed nil sales tax returns in FBR portal since 2011 may apply for the condonation on the prescribed format with no delay.
