Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Irrigation & Social Welfare, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao and Provincial Minister for Mineral Development, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli formally inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Regional Office of Minerals Department in Abbottabad on Monday. Besides, former provincial minister MPA Haji Ibrar Tanoli, MPA Gohar Nawaz Khan, Secretary Minerals. Zaheer-ul-Islam, Director General (DG) Minerals, Fazal Wahid, Director Planning Bilal Khisro, representatives of mine owners and officers of the department attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Sherpao said that for the development and promotion of mineral sector, a new Mineral Act will be soon passed from the provincial assembly to implement in the province. He said that ban on the issuance of new leases will be lifted soon and urged the mine owners for the utilisation of modern technology to take maximum benefits of the natural resources.

The use of modern technology, he said will not only prevent the wastage of the precious minerals, but will also help in producing quality and market-oriented products. The new regional office constructed over an area of 4 kanal lands at the cost of Rs 71 million will prove a milestone in the development of the people of Hazara Division.

Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister for Mineral Development, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli said that they had accepted the department on the directives of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and QWP Chairman, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao as a challenge and no stone will be left unturned in putting the sector on the path of development. The provincial minister said that for promotion of the mineral sectors, they are improving rules and bringing of new mineral act while cordial environment is also being provided to attract investment in the sector.
