The third International Conference on Dairy Science Park will be held on November 16. KP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayatullah Khan will inaugurate the conference. This was revealed during a meeting of the minister with a delegation of the Dairy Science Park comprising Professor Dr M Subhan Qureshi, Professor Mansoor Khattak, Professor Umer Sadique and Dr Shah Murad from the Agriculture University Peshawar, here on Friday.

Dr Subhan Qureshi while talking to this scribe said the conference will continue for three days with an expected participation of 500 plus delegates from various universities, government and development organisations, business and farming community. Two experts from Turkey and about 24 from Afghanistan's universities and research and development organisations have confirmed participation in the event. Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani will chair the technical session on Tuesday morning, he added.

Dairy Science Park envisions utilising the universities as power houses for economic revival of KP. The evening session will be chaired by Malik Asim Khan, District Nazim Peshawar. Dairy Science Park is focusing on development and replication of self employment models using livestock resources and the local government set-up will be utilised for introduction of this concept, Quershi said. Similarly, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Law Arif Yousaf will chair the morning session of the conference on Wednesday.

The first technical session, title "Livestock Development and Business Incubation," will be chaired by Dr Mazhar Saeed, Director General HEC P&D. Papers will be presented by Professor M Sarwar Khan, Dean FAH, and Professor Zafar Randhawa, Dean FVS, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Chairperson Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board will attend the session. Dr Arshad Hashmi will present paper on business incubation while livestock industrialisation in Punjab, a success story will be presented by Dr Nasir Javid, Lead Foundation Lahore. Industrial vision of FAHVS under Dairy Science Park will be presented by Professor Dr Sarzamin Khan while calf fatting in KP - experience sharing, will be presented by Dr Muhammad Islam L&DD. Elite dairy and beef semen for livestock industrialisation in KP and Fata will be presented by Colonel Dr Mehboob Butt, CEBG Okara while KP Chief Smeda Javed Khattak will share his experience of SME development in the province.

This three-day international conference includes inaugural session, 12 technical sessions and concluding session. A recommendation committee comprising Dr Nazir Ahmad Khan, Dr Zahoor Ahmad, Dr Shakoor Ahmad, Dr Mobashir and Dr Hamayun will record proceedings of the presentations and discussions and will compile for approval of the relevant bodies of the Park. The recommendations will be presented to the administration of Agriculture University Peshawar, KP government and other relevant authorities for implementation.
