21st century is knowledge and service oriented economy, in which the old mantra of "cash is king" has been replaced with "talent is king and cash is queen". This emphasizes the emerging significance of Human Resource Development in economic growth of industrial economies. Role of HRD professionals is critical for developing and retaining effective workforce for the economic growth of organization, industry and economy.

Due to knowledge centered economy, the average shelf life of professional tools is not more than 3-4 years, after which it tends to become obsolete. In order to stay current with profession, all professionals need to follow route of "Continuous Professional Development" called certification.

It is quite interesting that Pakistan stands number 4 in the world in terms of "Certified HR professionals". It is validated and by profit and nonprofit sector. SHRM has developed 2 certifications SHRM-CP for operational HR and SHRM-SCP for strategic HR roles in the organization. Getting certified makes HR professional a recognized expert and leader in the HR field-and a valuable asset to the organization.
