Jawed Suleman, Chairman PRGMEA (Pakistan Readymade Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association) concerned over increase of 23 percent in gas tariff from Rs 448 per mmbtu to Rs 600 for the industry, power sector and domestic consumer. He said that govt should reduced rates as international markets prices of petroleum items declining, whereas, in Pakistan it's available in highest rates.

He said the industrial sector was already facing the excessive Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC), which increased cost by $0.96 per mmbtu while this increased would badly affect the industrial sector. Besides, this will direct affect to the common person because of using daily basis items he added. He stated that the value added textile sector already disturbed because of utilities and not taking actual benefits from GSP+ which is an alarming situation for the govt.-PR
