The members of the governing body of Punjab Employees Social Security Intuitions (Pessi) have approved the proposed budget of PESSI for the year 2015-16 amounting to more than 10.96 billion rupees while budget estimates of expenditures are fixed to Rs 340.19 million.

According to budget documents, recovery contribution target for the year 2015-16 has been estimated more than Rs 10.79 billion while last year this target was fixed to Rs 9.48 billion which was achieved more than 95 percent by great efforts of recovery officers of PESSI.

An amount of Rs 369.437 has been allocated in the current fiscal year in the head of financial grants for the secured workers with an increase of Rs 7.216 million this year. Meanwhile Provincial Minister for Labour & HR Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has directed the recovery officers of PESSI to bring their best professional capabilities for providing social security cover to secure industrial workers and labourers by enhancing social security contribution and good governance.

Commissioner Social Security Ishrat Ali informed the participants of the governing body that all the social security hospitals of the province would be upgraded and an amendment in the labour laws is under consideration to provide equal facilities to woman workers under R-4 card. It was also proposed that salaries and allowances of the PESSI employees are approved with the ratio of salaries of Punjab government employees. Revised budget of PESSI for the year 2014-15 was also approved in the meeting along with proposals of upgradation of Health Risk Allowance of low scale employees of hospitals and dispensaries of PESSI. Shifting of Directorate of Social Security from Okara to Sahiwal district, was also approved besides approval of newly created jobs and treatment of cancer patients from Sir Agha Khan Hospital.

Commissioner Social Security Ishrat Ali, Vice Commissioner Khalid Saleem, General Secretary All Pakistan Trade Union Federation Aima Mehmood, President PML-N Labour Wing Punjab Shahzad Anwar, CEO Raja Industries Sialkot Shabnum Asif Sheikh, President Refinery Employees Union CBA Hameed Khan Jadoon, Abdul Majid Chaudhry, Medical Advisor Dr Ashraf Nizami and other members of the governing body were also present on the occasion.
