Police further said that the deadly incidents took place in Rangiwara, Jhat Pat Market, Gul Muhammad Lane, Football House and Chakiwara areas, where the rival gangs attacked each others' positions with rockets, hand grenades and sophisticated weapons, which resulted in killing of 16 persons and injured 25 others. The clashes were so intense that rescue operation could not be carried out for hours. Later, the victims and injured were moved to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities and treatment.
The deceased were identified as Shahida, 45, wife of Muhammad Ali, Hamida, 33, wife of Amanullah, Fazila, 24, Amina Bibi, Rabia, 30, Nabeel, 30, Sattar, 35, Azan Anwar, 10, Aran Khan, 05, Amir Hussain, 10, Abdul Ghaffar, 50, Shehzad, 30, Syed Ahmad, 28, Amir Hussain 20, and Abdul Malik, 30. While the injured were identified as Amina, 07, Altaf, 22, Ahmad Ali, Ibrahim, 35, Abdul Haleem, 55, Sakeena, 40, Farzana, 45, Mushtaq, 35, Fahim, 21, Amna, 50, Imran, 20, Rabia, 40, Farida, Khadija, 35, Rashid, 28, Abid Hussain, 18, Javed, 45, Abid, Saneel, Ali Imran, Azam and others. The incidents created fear and panic among the residents. The town wore a deserted look throughout the day, as shops and markets were closed and people remained indoor.
On the other hand, police killed at least three gangsters of Baba Ladla group in an alleged encounter in Rangiwara area. The deceased were identified as Fateh Khan, Adnan Asif, and Farman. Their bodies were shifted to CHK for medico legal formalities. Meanwhile, different political parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-i-Islami have strongly condemned the killings of people in the violence.
