All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) leadership is due to call on President Asif Zardari on January 08, to apprise him about the problems of textile industry in Punjab due to unprecedented energy crisis. According to industry sources, the newly-appointed Governor Punjab Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood has sought time for APTMA leadership from the President.

It may be noted that the Punjab governor had invited the APTMA leadership on dinner at the Governor House two days earlier to have an idea of the problems of textile industry in Punjab. The textile industry in Punjab has witnessed very unusual developments so far as energy crisis is concerned, as not only the gas supply but the electricity supply was also denied to the textile mills in Punjab from December 22, 2012 until January 01, 2013 when Prime Minister intervened and directed the Ministry of Water & Power for 16 hours electricity supply to mills in Punjab. However, the industry is still facing trouble in energy supply and the Governor Punjab has assured the APTMA leadership of taking the President into confidence for permanent relief to industry.
