"A report reveals recently that Sui Southern Gas Company is receiving 950 to 1,166 million cubic feet gas (MMCFD) per day, while its demand is 1,300 MMCFD. In our opinion, 1,050 MMCFD is sufficient to operate industries smoothly which means SSGCL receives 250 MMCFD," said a Press release issued by Towel Manufacturers' Association of Pakistan (TMA).

According to SSGCL, in view of gas supply closure to fertiliser factories for 45 days from January 1, they would save 60 MMCFD, in other words this volume will increase their reserve capacity. SSGCL takes plea that gas consumption rises in the country during winter, while in our opinion, winter always sets in but once a year whereas shortfall of gas did not seem in previous years. It seems to be mismanagement on the part of Sui Gas Company.-PR
