Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired a meeting of corps commanders here on Friday. All principal staff officers were also present at the meeting. The ISPR stated: "156th Corps Commanders' Conference was held at General Headquarters today. The meeting undertook a comprehensive review of the routine professional matters and security environment in the country".

However, sources claimed that offer of peace talks made by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was also came under discussion. Apart from discussing military's participation in verification of voters in Karachi and other matters related to Pak-Afghan border, country's internal security situation was also reviewed.
