Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar has said that political parties have the right to express their opinions, adding that the process of verification of voter lists and delimitation should be carried out across Pakistan, a private TV channel reported on Monday. Addressing media persons outside the Parliament House on Monday, he said "MQM doesn't want confrontation. We respect judiciary and we will continue to do so."

According to him, political parties and public representatives have the right to express their views. He said that the party workers had prevented Altaf Hussain from coming back to Pakistan 'as the party chief is facing unnatural threats here'. "He is a ray of hope for millions of Pakistanis and we cannot expose him to the real and present dangers," he added.

The MQM leader said that in the present circumstances it would not be appropriate to ask him to come to Pakistan. Meanwhile, while criticising the apex court's decision on delimitation of constituencies in Karachi and contempt of court notice to Altaf Hussain, MQM MNA Waseem Akhtar said the party had received Supreme Court's notice and its legal team would articulate a reply to it. He said the MQM had the right to protest against decisions of the Supreme Court. He said that judges had only singled out Karachi for delimitation of constituencies. He added that law and order situation in KP and Balochistan was even worse.

He said: "Under a planned plot, the vote bank of Karachi is being robbed. There should be no delimitation without consensus." The MQM leader said, "We will give political response if judges will make political decisions and remarks. While expunging some words of MQM leader about judges, Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi said that under Article 68 of the constitution no discussion shall be taken by the Parliament with respect to the conduct of any Judge of the Supreme Court or of a High Court in the discharge of his duties. Law Minister Farooq H Naek, while responding to the MQM member, said the Speaker could expunge any word under Article 68 of the constitution and had powers to do so under rule 284.
