A large number of people thronged the markets of the federal capital on Friday to finalise their preparations for approaching Eid-ul-Fitr. Children and women were seen busy buying accessories matching their Eid dresses including shoes, jewellery etc. Huge rush of vehicles caused problems for the commuters, as long queues of vehicles blocked some busy roads.

Commuters also complained of inadequate parking facilities in the markets, as the shopkeepers had occupied footpaths to set up stalls of mehndi, bangles, jewellery, shoes etc. "I am searching for a place to park my car for half an hour but could not find one as the over crowded markets and stalls set-up by shopkeepers have left no space for parking," said Kamran who was visiting Jinnah Super market. Every year people faced parking problems ahead of Eid but the concerned authorities had not taken any steps to address this problem, he added. "People are over enthusiastic to celebrate Eid but every year people face the same problems of traffic blocks and lack of parking," Shahid, another visitor said.
