According to annual budget statement 2012-13, the government has earmarked Rs 647.9 billion expenditure from national savings schemes. The government has estimated public account expenditure from investment deposit accounts (saving schemes) at Rs 601.9 billion in 2012-13 budget of which Rs 200.68 billion is from saving bank accounts.

Rs 39.9 billion from defence saving accounts, Rs 173.47 billion from special saving certificates, Rs 64.48 billion from special saving accounts, Rs 38.6 billion from regular income certificates, Rs 18.7 from pension benefits, Rs 65.9 billion from Behbood saving certificates and Rs 44 billion from provident fund.
