Former head of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Brigadier Imtiaz Ahmed (Retd) was released from Adiala Jail on Saturday. Superintendent Adiyala Jail Saeed Ullah Gondal has confirmed the bail of Brigadier Imtiaz Ahmed(Retd). On Thursday, a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Justice Rauf Ahmad Sheikh granted interim bail to Imtiaz Ahmed and directed his release on bail bonds of Rs 20 million.

In July 2001, Brigadier Imtiaz (Retd) was awarded eight years of imprisonment by an accountability court in an illegal assets reference.
