According to estimates of foreign assistance in the 2008-09 budget, the government hopes to receive Rs 76 billion for projects aid, Rs 151.043 billion for commodity aid (non-food), Rs 9.831 billion for earthquake, Rs 62.500 billion for other aids and Rs 222.274 million non-plan grants.
The government has estimated Rs 76 billion for next fiscal year, that is 32.55 percent up from Rs 57.935 billion of outgoing year. This includes Rs 70.054 billion loans and Rs 6.739 billion grants, against Rs 54.068 billion and Rs 3.68 billion, respectively, of 2007-08.
The projects loan includes Rs 23.019 billion for federal projects, Rs 23.397 billion for autonomous bodies, and 23.397 billion for provinces.
The estimated grants for projects are Rs 6.739 billion for next fiscal year, a 74.26 percent increase from Rs 3.867 billion of 2007-08. These include Rs 4.874 billion for federal departments and Rs 1.865 billion for provinces against Rs 2.423 billion and Rs 1.092 billion respectively of2007-08.
The loans and grants are estimated at Rs 151.043 billion for commodity aid (non-food) for next fiscal, 59.61 percent up from Rs 94.630 billion. This includes Rs 145.625 billion loans and Rs 5.418 billion grants. There is an increase of 114.36 percent in loans from Rs 67.932 billion to Rs 145.625 billion, while grants are estimated to decline by 79.705 percent. Grants are estimated to come down from Rs 26.697 billion to Rs 5.418 billion in the next year.
The estimated foreign inflow for earthquake is expected to decline to Rs 9.831 billion in 2008-09 from Rs 58.277 billion. The loans for earthquake are estimated to decline from current year's Rs 55.570 billion to Rs 5.596 billion. However, an increase is estimated in the grants for earthquake which would increase from Rs 2.527 billion to Rs 4.234 billion.
An amount of Rs 62.500 billion is estimated to come from other loan, which is relatively lower from Rs 64.562 billion of the ongoing fiscal year. The government has also estimated that it would receive Rs 222.275 million from non-pan resources against Rs 2.189 billion. These inflow include Rs 9.879 million for federal departments and Rs 212.396 million for other private sectors.
