The government has announced promotion of Commodore Tanveer Faiz to the rank of Rear Admiral. This was notified by the defence ministry on Saturday.

Commodore Tanveer Faiz was commissioned in Pakistan Navy in June 1975 in the operations branch. As a junior officer he served onboard various ships. Later, he joined the submarine service.

His commands include two submarines, a guided missile destroyer and commander submarine squadron. Similarly, his staff appointments include director, Naval Intelligence and chief staff officer of Pakistan fleet. He has also served as Naval Attaché at Beijing, and was awarded Pakistan-China friendship medal.

He is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College and National Defence College Islamabad.

The Admiral is presently serving as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. In recognition to his services, the Admiral was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (military).-PR
