The Punjab Election Commission (PEC) has completed all the arrangements for holding free and fair by-election in PP-156, Lahore 20 on July 3.

The polling will begin at 8:00 am at 113 polling stations and continue without any break till 5:00 pm.

According to PEC, the total number of voters in the constituency was 113,628 of them, male and female voters were 61,016 and 52,666 respectively.

The number of polling booths in the constituency is 302 and 302 assistant presiding officers will perform duties over there. PP-156 comprises Lahore Cantonment areas and some adjacent residential colonies of the city.

This seat fell vacant after Supreme Court disqualified PML-N MPA, Sheikh Amjid Aziz on the charges of contesting general election 2002 on a fake B.A degree. Earlier, the Lahore High Court had declared runner up Haroon Akhtar as member who took oath in the Punjab Assembly session in February.

Later, the august court de-seated Haroon Akhtar and directed re-election in the constituency.

The candidates contesting the bye-election are Iftikhar Ahmed Niazi, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Sheikh Mushtaq Hussain, lbaad Mehmood, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqi, Muhammad Yaseen Sohal, Maulana Muhammad Asim Makhdoom, Mian Amir Nasir Advocate and Nasir Ahmed Bhutta.

The polling will be held at 47 male and female poling stations each and 19 combined polling stations.
