Mubashir Sheikh, PIAF central leader and Chairman LCCI Standing Committee of Law and Order has urged the new IG Police Punjab to take effective measures against the rising crime rate and curb the activities of Qabza groups, gangs of robbers and people involved in kidnapping for ransom.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, Sheikh mentioned that the Chief Minister some time ago had announced to launch a grand-operation in Lahore and suburban areas against the gangs of criminals, however, this campaign did not yield any results.

Masses in general and traders community in particular are still being targeted and there is hardly any security of life and property.

He pointed out that the trade activity and foreign investment could only flourish in peaceful environment. Until government eliminates the dominance of robbers in the industrial areas of Lahore, the production process would not grow.

Criticising the performance of police force, he stated that incident of car snatching, robberies at gunpoint and abduction for ransom has become order of the day in various industrial areas and markets of Lahore.
