D.G. Khan Cement Company, a unit of Nishat Group of Industries, has signed a contract with F L Smidth & Co, of Denmark, for supplying complete 4000 tons per day cement production plant.

This new plant will be located at Khairpur, near Kalar Kahar, District Chakwal. The site is ideally suited due to its proximity to abundant deposits of good quality raw material.

The plant will be based on coal as fuel. Chakwal district being rich in coal deposits, its coal industry will get a big boost.

The new plant is based on the latest state-of-the-art technology, capable of producing 1,240,000 tons cement annually.

A unique feature of this contract is supply of heat-efficient two support rotary kiln system, first of its kind in Pakistan and world's largest vertical cement grinding mill, to be manufactured by F L Smidth of Denmark.

Installation of modern highly energy-efficient equipment and machinery will place D.G. Khan Cement Company far ahead of its competitors. The execution phase of this gigantic project will provide tremendous boost to local engineering and construction industry on the one hand and a lot of new jobs would be created, on the other.

The production capacity of cement from existing two units of D.G. Khan Cement Company is 6,200 tons per day, which is also being optimised for a further increase of 500 tons per day.

On completion of the new project at Kalar Kahar, the total installed production capacity of D.G. Khan Cement Company will go to over 3.32 million tons per annum.
