The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) on Monday issued SRO.25(I)/2001 to extend Temporary Importation Scheme (SRO.410(I)/2001) permitting duties- and taxes-free import of raw materials for manufacture of export goods up to June 30, 2004.

Sources said that this would be the fourth and final extension in SRO 410(I)/2001. However, exporters should not expect any further concessions in SRO.410 in budget for 2004-05.

Following is the text of the SRO issued here on Monday:

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), and sub-section (2) of section 13 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Federal Government is pleased to direct that in its notification No. SRO.410(I)/2001, dated the 18th June 2001, the following further amendments shall be made and shall be deemed always to have been so made, namely:-

In the aforesaid notification, in the preamble for the figure, letters, words and commas "31st December, 2003", the figures, letters, words and commas "30th June 2004" shall be substituted.
