The working interest owners of Block 2768-3 (Block-22) have planned to commence drilling of Hamza X-2 well in the third week of January.

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is the contractor and will be providing rig H-725 and the drilling crew for the purpose.

The mobilisation of rig and crew from Kandhkot to the site of Hamza X-2 has started from 4th of January and the process is expected to be completed by 15th of this month, sources told Business Recorder on Sunday.

The work relating to rig up and installation of camp is also in progress, they added. As soon as the process of mobilisation of rig and crew is completed the drilling will start, they pointed out.

They further said that security of personnel and provision of other material and equipment required at the site of drilling work is the responsibility of Pakistan Exploration Limited (PEL), who is the operator of the Block-22.

According to sources, the drilling of Hamza X-2 was to be started in the third week of October 2003, but due to non-availability of PPL's rig, which was deployed for the drilling of Kandhkot Well-24.

PPL and PEL are the majority stake holders in Block-22 while Pyramid and Government of Pakistan are the other working interest owners.

The Block-22 is located in the province of Sindh, spreading over an area of 397 square kilometres.
