The Bangladesh taka ended steady against the dollar on Wednesday as supply of the US currency was boosted by remittances from expatriate workers, dealers said.

The taka was quoted at 58.85/58.90 per dollar in interbank trade, compared with 58.85/58.95 on Tuesday.

"The taka became steady as there was adequate supply of the dollar against import needs," one dealer with a public bank said.

Most of the deals were settled at 58.85 per dollar level, while private and foreign banks concluded a few deals at 58.90 per dollar.

Call money rates ranged between 6.0 percent and 8.0 percent, up from 4.0 to 7.0 percent on Tuesday.
